She is gorgeous, like her Mom and healthy as can be. Bryan and Lesley are now the proud parents of what will most likely turn out to be the north's youngest fisherman.

It has taken from then till now for me to figure out this new format for the blog. Now everyone can add their comments and get them posted easily.

The weather has been very strange in all of June and so far in July too. Rainy, then sunny, then rainy again, all in the same hour. Temperatures have been below seasonal by up to 10 degrees. But, it looks like it has finally come to an end as of tomorrow with lots of sun shine and increased warmer temperatures.

The grass has been to wet to mow and some areas could really use the help of a farmers cows or goats and wouldn't you know it, the John Deere decided to blow a belt. That should be fixed tomorrow if it gets here on time. That's the drawback of living in paradise, everything needs to be ordered from a good distance away. Even getting milk home is a chore to keep cold sometimes.

But enough crying over un-spilt milk, everything is looking rosy and guests will be pouring in again this week, just in time for some really great weather.

The fishing has been extra great so far which is odd with all the rain. Maybe they are just tired of eating things that get washed into the lakes and rivers from land. I mean how many worms and bugs can one fish take?

See some of you later and have fun down there in the blazing heat????

Thanks, Ed

All Season Photo Contest

Win a FREE TRIP to Lost Lake Wilderness lodge

Just click on the "Activities" button.

Starting on May 16th, Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge will offer two "FREE FULL AMERICAN PLAN for two people" fishing trips to be taken next season.

May 14th, 2009

Well, I have yet to figure out how to make this blog so that you folks can add your own stories but I am working on it. It's probably something the average three year old could do in no time, but, I am not three anymore darn it.

This week was mostly warm and sunny with rain today but Saturday's forecast is for a bit of snow which is not normal but we do live in the land of quick changing weather.

Our first guests check in tomorrow, Friday, and one group has been coming to Lost Lake since we moved here in 1989. Another group has been here almost as long. You won't believe this but one group comes here for the fishing of course but also, they have a nightly contest around the kitchen, trying to out do the other assigned cook from the night before. I tend to wander by their cottage a lot hoping for handouts. I never knew you could cook Italian so well on a BBQ?

Lesley and Bryan's baby is still hiding from the inevitable, not showing any signs of leaving his / her comfy, warm home.

Judy's dog Mr. Rigby discovered a momma raccoon under a shed and decided to pay a visit. He was very lucky and managed to hide in a place between the floor joists that the nasty critter couldn't fit. Our other Yorkie, Sarge, discovered him and started barking letting us know where his buddy was and after removing most of the lower wall, I could see Rigs cowering and shaking. Boy, was he happy to get out of there. After a lengthy vet visit that night, he was found to have thirteen punctures but none did more damaging than ripping his skin. He was in a lot of pane but the very next morning was playing ball again.

Thanks

Ed

First Post

My web master told me to start this off by writing something about the activities at Lost Lake, so here we go. This ice was out on about May 4th this year which is later than usual. Big loose pieces still survived up until last night and were gone this morning. Today started out warm and sunny but rain set in before 9 AM and has drizzled on and off all day.

Our handsome son Bryan and his gorgeous wife Lesley are very much having a baby around opening day at Lost Lake. Good timing I say, maybe they're just trying to get out of all the labor that's left to do, I think they may have planned it that way, don't you........??? As long as we get a grandchild living this close by, the work will get done somehow.

Sarge and Mr. Rigby, our two Yorkshire Terriers both got much needed baths and haircuts today so they will look good for our first guests coming in a day before walleye opening, which happens on the 16th of May, a Saturday.

We can't wait for folks to get up this year. It was a very long and cold winter and we are all suffering from "Cabin fever." We need to see your shining, or even road weary faces again.

So that's all for today and now what do I do with this blog..........???? No clue.......... Maybe someone will read it and take pity on the author and write something of their own. That would be a nice thing.

Thanks, Ed
