NEW AFFORDABLE PRICING FOR FAMILY AND
FRIENDS
Great fishing is usually the number one draw to Lost Lake
Wilderness Lodge but there is a wide variety of additional activities from
which to choose. Scroll through this page
to get the flavor of what's up at Lost Lake
Wilderness Lodge this year.
Many words simply describe the features of the north rather than the
feelings of being here. Beautiful and secluded, quiet and clean, green and
serene are but a few thoughts that guests express. I think mostly the eyes
tell the story best. There is something very special indeed in watching a
friends face as they experience all things wild from Bear Viewing to fishing
and everything in between. Seven of our ten
lakes lakes are theirs alone for the whole
day.....can you just imagine. Better than flying in? Maybe so,
you'll have to be the judge whether having more than a lake a day to fish
and explore is more fun than a single fly-in lake?
Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge is a small lodge and cottage setting on the
shores of one of Northeastern Ontario's most beautiful lakes. Many guests
refer to Lost Lake as the third kind of tourism in the north. Remote lakes
available to our guests without flying. Imagine fishing and exploring one
lake then simply landing at a large floating land base on the far shores
where a short 3 minute walk gives you access to more lakes....boats and
motors await.....something the average person only dreams about. Talk
about great fishing opportunities, its all here for you and your
friends.
More Great Reasons to Choose Lost Lake Wilderness Lodge
This Year
Lost Lake is committed to the conservation and preservation of our
Natural Resources. Catch and
Release and
Conservation fishing is strongly supported. Ontario's
fishing heritage is assured. ("Steven, It's catch and release...... not
Sushi.")
At Lost Lake all cottages offer a great view of the lake. With 10 lakes ready to be fished and explored right from
your doorstep, and almost zero public access, it is easy to see how peace
is part of Lost Lake's appeal. We do not rent equipment to non guests so
your privacy is assured. At Lost Lake you can fish right from the docks.
They are large and safe and great fun for adults and kids alike. A
pleasant break from boating.
Need a change from fishing, please keep reading......... Hiking and exploring along well signed interpretive
trails is not only invigorating but much is
learned about the flora and fauna that we live with......... Visit
deserted silver mines in the area, keep a piece
of Heavy Rock.......... For the more hardy, climb a fairly gentle sloping
mountain using the scaling rope to a lookout
point high above Lost Lake. The whole valley can be seen from
here......... Black Bear feeding stations are
maintained to enhance your photographic chances
of these magnificent wild animals......... Moose salt
licks help with your opportunity of seeing these forest
giants....... Want to go howling for wolves? We will show how you
its done. Take note, their eerie reply is guaranteed to send shivers up
your spine........ Hummingbird feeders and
nesting stations bring a wide variety of birds right to your cabin window.
Birds that are never seen in the south are common here......... Wild blueberry picking is a definite treat for pie
lovers. Things to do are limited only by your imagination........ Of
course, sometimes the most popular thing to do
is nothing........ but looking and listening....
The hustle and bustle of city life has never felt farther away!
More Things To Do
Challenge your friends to a game of horseshoes. Old standby board
games are still very popular and are yours for the asking.........
Weather days are a great time to check out our complimentary movie library, some new and some not so
new...... However, nothing compares to curling up in the front of a
boat with a good book while the waves gently rock you into slumber land. A
large bass leaping into
the air after a bug and splashing 2 feet away from the sleeping soul can
be a bit of a rude awakening. Somehow, up here it just seems right.
Swimming happens off the large docks with
the water being around 10 - 12 feet deep. A short boat ride takes you to a
large sandbar with no weeds or yucky spots. A
great place to frolic with the deepest place at about 5 feet. Water
temperatures usually reach comfortable swimming temperatures by mid June
and stay quite warm until the middle of September.
After a hard day of fishing and exploring take a much needed
soothing dip in the spa located at shores edge.
Where's the city noise now?
Within an hours drive you can enjoy an 18-hole golf course or spend an afternoon exploring the many
antique stores rich with Northern Ontario
treasures. There are several small museums to
visit including one in Gowganda (Ontario's Friendliest Village) that
features mining from the past and one in Elk Lake which is dedicated to
the preservation of the early history of Elk Lake. There are railway
museums, homesteader's museums and even a newly developed wild animal refuge. Ask to see the Lost Lake Bear
that we rescued. "Saddle up, partner!" Drive 45 minutes and enjoy a day of
horseback riding with an experienced trail
guide.......... Learn to make Native Crafts at
the Lodge, a definite must do for many folks.
